"We have one chance, one life, and in all that we do, even if we do nothing, we effect the people around us, the world that we live in ,and the lives of generations to come.  We must live this life actively with courage and compassion.  We must follow our hearts and our conscience and teach our children to do the same."
James Matthews

Title:_Living Fearlessly_

-Most of us spend our lives in fear of this or that (the "what if’s" of life), most of these fears are intangible. They are not fears of pain or death, or any other misfortune in the physical since. They are abstract fears of social ostracism and the opinions and reactions of others. Small non life threatening fears that have no real impact on everyday life-

-these are always the most difficult to overcome; the small unconscious apprehensions that cause us to hesitate in our works, and second-guess our convictions. These are the fears that keep us from living fully and freely, and interfere with our ability to achieve our greatest potential in most areas of life.

-It is these tiny inconsequential anxieties that keep us from answering the call to greatness that has gone out to all of our kind.

-Not the fear of spiders, or fire, or even the fear of heights or falling, these can be overcome with a single act of will.

It is the seemingly relatively insubstantial, but deeply rooted fears that drive our everyday behavior and therefore require our everyday attention if we are to grow out of them- (we must continually ask ourselves: " am I acting or failing to act for fear of some examined consequence or reaction on the part of others?" If so; does the consequence of following my convictions, {be they real or examined}, out weigh the real consequences, what ever they may be, of my failure to follow these self-same convictions?)-

Remember often as not such a consequence may be that absolutely nothing discernable happens - this is perhaps the worst possible consequence in many cases.

Believe it or not one of the most common of these life-obstructing fears is that of the reaction of others, of what people might think, what might happen if We express our true feelings or convictions on this or that large or small issue-{by the way, did I mention that fear is cumulative?- it is, we accumulate it through-out our lives, and as we pick them up we may lose track of them but they are rarely lost}- [more on this later]-

... therefore we should everyday, deliberately seek out a person for the purposes of boldly expressing a view or a conviction that we would normally keep to our selves. We must make a habit (a discipline), of the bold and honest expression of our feelings, views, aspirations, and convictions- though in doing so we risk experiencing some of the consequences we fear.

Remember truth and honesty often as not will make us unpopular, but it is the only thing that can set us free.
